FRENCH FASHION SHOW (with a twist)Author: Nathalie BernardTranslated by: Michal Cline After weeks of planning, the models were lined up to begin their procession down the runway. Not in Paris, but in Nice, France. Not tall, slender women strutting in their designer outfits but a procession of dogs, including Poodles of all sizes, beautifully groomed according to the standard required for their breed. On October 28-29, 2007, a companion pet show was held at the Palais des Expositions in Nice sponsored by Royale Canine, a huge food company. This year, there was a special event organized by Magie Canine, a salon owned by Nathalie Bernard. Nathalie and another groomer transformed two Shih Tzus in front of spectators in 15 minutes into virtual Stars of the Moulin Rouge complete with the addition of feathers. Following this, the audience was treated to a very special show of four-legged models dressed by Comptoir Canin, a well known store in Cannes, known for its stylish canine outfits. The dogs were outfitted in beautiful Loly Dog outfits, sweatshirts, tee shirts, flowered robes, jeans, and tank tops. The ultimate in high canine fashion!
Then the finale – the just-for-fun marriage of Youta, a beautiful black and white parti Standard Poodle owned by Nathalie Bernard and Baboun, a harlequin Great Dane! Youta wore a superb white robe with a long flowing veil: whereas Baboun, who is also black and white, sported a huge black bow tie. The audience was absolutely delighted by this spectacle and both dogs were applauded and cheered. In fact, the entire event was so well received that Nathalie has been asked to do a repeat performance in Marseille at the beginning of 2008. |
