Water, yes, water! This issue features several articles about the immense fun Poodles have in and around water – everything from competing in water sports, to boating, to playing at the beach.

Poodles are water dogs. We all know when we let our Poodles outside that if there is any body of water, some of them are going to come back in soaking wet . . . and muddy, if they can find dirt to play in afterwards. With some of these water dogs, you don’t even have to let them outside – simply put a container of water on the floor! We have one who dunks his entire head in the water dish or in the toilet if we make the mistake of leaving the lid up.

However, not all Poodles love water. I have others who would not even deign to get their toes wet: my little Princess Savannah is one of those. If it’s raining when she *really* needs to potty, after I open the door, she hesitates, looks around to verify that there’s wet stuff that would fall on her, then looks at me with these pleading eyes, “Oh, no, Mum, please don’t make me go outside to potty.” My response is, “But, Sweetie, you said you had to go . . . so run quick and potty fast then you won’t get your little Princess head wet.” Only begrudgingly will she go out.

Another feature in this issue is the news that both the harlequin and the black and tan have been officially accepted as recognized Poodle colors by the Russian Cynological Federation. In the future, we hope to see more countries endorsing the parti-colored Poodle.
