Ruadh’s Achievements

Hi, Poodle Lovers,

I would like to share the achievements of my apricot Toy Poodle Ruadh whom I have trained for obedience competitions. We compete at open and championship shows all over Britain.

In 2008, we competed in a heat for the KCGC (Kennel Club Good Citizen) Specialty in pre-beginners. She finished in a run-off with a Border Collier for first place and won! Later in the year, we had to compete in the semi-finals to qualify to compete at Crufts, England’s premier dog show. Again, she finished in a run-off for first place . . . this time with a German Shepherd and a Belgian Shepherd. Again, she beat them to take first place.

Ruadh loves to go to training clubs and obedience shows and is at her happiest when working. Although we are only working in pre-beginners and beginners, she can do scent work, distance control, and send-aways.

I have trained German Shepherds, Border Collies, Shetland Sheepdogs, and my older Poodle. Having been bitten by the “obedience bug,” I now have a young Standard Poodle to bring on; however, I have never had such a keen, responsive, little dog as Ruadh.

So, to all dog owners with small dogs, do them justice and treat them like real dogs: the reward will be priceless.
